Markéta Irglová, who appeared in Once, has paid tribute to Glen Hansard.
Glen sadly passed away after a motorcycle crash in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Markéta and Glen worked on Once and formed the band Swell Season together.
She took to social media to share a heartfelt message to Glen’s family following his death.

“My deepest condolences to Glen’s family, his brothers and his beautiful wife and son, you are all in my thoughts and prayers,” she wrote.
“I am so sorry for your tragic loss, my heart goes out to you. May his love always surround you, his spirit guide and protect you, and may his light shine on throughout your days.”
She also included a prayer that read:
“The Lord bless you
and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face toward you
and give you peace.”
The pair, who were previously in a relationship, won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for their song Falling Slowly from the film Once in February 2008.
They released three albums together under the name Swell Season. Their most recent record, Forward, was released in 2025.
