The funeral of Irish musician Glen Hansard will take place in Dublin today, following his tragic death last week.
The Oscar-winning singer-songwriter passed away at the age of 56 after a motorcycle crash in Lucan, Co Dublin, in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Thousands of mourners gathered on Monday to pay their respects during a public wake held at the Baroque Chapel in the Irish Museum of Modern Art at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, where fans queued to honour the much-loved musician.
It has now been confirmed that his funeral will take place at St Patrick’s Cathedral this afternoon at 1.30pm.

While the service will be open to the public, seating inside the cathedral will be limited due to the large numbers expected. Screens will also be set up outside at St Patrick’s Close, allowing mourners to follow the ceremony.
Music throughout the service will be provided by Glen’s family and close friends, celebrating the extraordinary life and legacy of one of Ireland’s most cherished musicians.
Glen was well known in the Irish busking scene and led the famous annual Christmas Eve charity busk in Dublin to raise money for the Dublin Simon Community.
He famously appeared in The Commitments before going on to create the beloved movie musical, Once.
He won an Oscar for Best Original Song for Falling Slowly.
Glen is survived by his wife, Finnish poet Maire Saaritsa, their son, and his wider family.
His funeral will be broadcast live on the RTÉ News channel from 1.30pm.
