She may be part of one of the biggest franchises, well, ever but Milly Alcock has a very local hero.

The Australian actress is leading the Game of Thrones spin-off, House of the Dragon, as Rhaenyra Targaryen. However, in a recent interview, she admitted that she was overwhelmed with the scale of just how big the show was.

“I didn’t fully understand how big of a scale something like that could be until I stepped on set, and I was mortified,” she confessed in an interview with NYLON, as she had only worked on small budget projects in Australia before.

The 22-year-old will be replaced by an older actor for the remainder of the show in the later half of season one thanks to House of the Dragon’s quick pace and time jumps. And Milly admits that she has no intention of doing something so big any time soon.

That’s where Paul Mescal comes in.

“Ultimately, I don’t want to go into another big franchise or a big series. I want to do something very intimate and personal and kind of like… Who’s the guy in Normal People?” she asked the interviewer.

After confirming it was indeed Mescal she was talking about, she explained: “I want to do a move that he made. I want a long career. I want to be clever about it.”

Of course, Paul exploded onto the scene in another book adaption in the form of Normal People. But since then he has chosen to move away from big projects, opting for indie flicks like Aftersun and God’s Creatures.

He’s also deleted his presence on social media, only making rare appearances on his partner, Phoebe Bridgers’ account.

And it looks like Paul is the inspiration for a lot of young, up-and-coming actors. G’wan Paul!

House of the Dragon airs on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV on Monday nights.
