This week, it was announced that Fontaines DC would play Slane Castle next summer.
As they finished off their first headline Electric Picnic gig, they flashed the word Slane on screen to an ecstatic crowd.
They will make history as the third ever Irish act to headline the iconic venue.
Thin Lizzy first headlined Slane Castle in 1981 and U2 followed up in 2001.
Now 26 years later, the beloved Irish band will take to the stage.
To the delight of fans, the band confirmed that they will be playing not one but two nights in the Meath venue.
“Due to demand we have added a second date at Slane Castle on Sunday 27th June,” they wrote on social media.
General sale kicks off at 10am on Thursday.
Tickets priced from €89.25 (including booking fee and €1 charity donation to Focus Ireland). Bookings subject to 12.5% service charge per ticket (max €10.50).
No service charge will apply to tickets purchased in-person from the 3Olympia Box Office, Dame Street, Dublin 2.
The band will follow in the footsteps of the likes of U2, Oasis, Madonna, David Bowie and The Rolling Stones as headliners at the legendary outdoor venue.
The news follows the recent announcement of Fontaines D.C.’s fifth studio album Dopamine Chamber, which will be released on 16th October via XL Recordings.
