RTÈ Broadcaster Caitriona Perry has payed tribute to her friend and fellow broadcaster Keelin Shanley on the third anniversary of her death.
The pair worked together anchoring the Six One News and formed a close bond as a result.
In a sweet Instagram Story, Caitriona marked the day as always, sharing a photo of them both smiling next to each other on a chilly Dublin day.
She captioned her tribute with the words: “Thinking of this legend today. Three years gone already. Always missed. Always loved.“
The comments of disbelief at the length of time since Keelin’s passing began pouring in with fellow journalist Joseph Sexton commenting: “She treated me wonderfully when I did an internship with RTÈ. A terrible loss, can’t believe it’s already been three years.“
On 8th February 2020, 51-year-old Keelin tragically passed away following a two-year-long battle with cancer, leaving behind her husband, Connor Ferguson and two children, Lucy and Ben.

The well-known news broadcaster decided to keep her illness from the public eye, so was missing from her daily news spot in the months leading up to her death. It wasn’t until the release of the 2021 documentary on RTÈ entitled Keelin Shanley, Far Away, Still Close that the public learned of Keelin’s two-year battle.
Connor, her husband created the documentary alongside director Judy Kelly to showcase exactly what Keelin’s journey was like and gave the public a final view of her before she died cementing the strong, beautiful woman she was in the hearts and minds of the Irish people for years to come.
