Saoirse Ronan has revealed that she was meant to have a role in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Barbie movie.
The pink-tastic film has been making headlines in recent months for its star-studded cast including Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.
There had been rumours swirling that Saoirse Ronan who has worked with Greta on films like Lady Bird and Little Women would also appear in Barbie.
Now Saoirse has revealed that she was meant to have a role but was forced to drop out due to scheduling issues.
“I was supposed to do a cameo because I live in London and they were [filming] there,” she told PEOPLE Magazine.
“There was a whole character I was going to play — another Barbie. I was gutted I couldn’t do it.”
So are we!
She joked that if there was any chance of her appearing in the film she would be there, admitting she texted Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig that if they were filming anything extra before the movie comes out she would absolutely be there.
Saoirse Ronan talking about working with Greta Gerwig at the BAFTA's 2020:
"I feel so lucky that we've found each other. I said to her recently, I was like, well, what happens when you do your next job and I can't be in the next one? […] I could be like gawky barbie." pic.twitter.com/lvzTxWQ7pp

Saoirse is back on our screens in See How They Run, where she plays Constable Stalker, a 1950s London police officer who’s teamed with a seasoned sleuth to solve the murder of a Hollywood director in London’s West End.
And she really gets to show off her comedy chops in the hilarious flick.
She’ll also be starring alongside Paul Mescal in their upcoming film, Foe. We cannot wait to watch!
