Pierce and Keely Shaye Brosnan have reached their 22nd wedding anniversary.
The couple said “I do” at Ballintubber Abbey in County Mayo, in 2001, after meeting on a beach in Mexico in 1994.
Celebrating the milestone, Keely took to Instagram, sharing some stunning snaps from their nuptials.
Writing: “Happy Anniversary [Pierce Brosnan] Thank you for always being up for this adventure called life.”
She also marked both the date they met and the date they married, adding: ” 4-8-94 / 8-4-2001″
Pierce and Keely hosted an intimate wedding, by celebrity standards, with only 100 guests in attendance.
Limerick priest Monsignor John Fleming, rector of the Pontifical Irish College in Rome, married the couple. He and Pierce struck up a friendship while the actor filmed Bond movie, The World Is Not Enough.
While their big day looked picture perfect, there were plenty of bumps along the way. The couple actually postponed their wedding three times, before finally making it down the aisle.
Firstly, when Keely and their then-four-year-old son Dylan Thomas couldn’t leave their California home due to extreme floods in the area. The second time, when Pierce’s then-17-year-old son Sean was seriously injured in a car accident. And the third and final time when Keely discovered she was pregnant with their second son, Paris.
Performing during the celebrations was iconic Irish band The Chieftains.
The Louth native met Journalist Keely while in Mexico. He was enjoying down time in between projects, and she was there to interview actor Ted Danson.
Recalling their first meeting, she told Hello!: “He was captivating. Tall, dark, and handsome.”
“Everything that everybody would immediately be attracted to. He had a mischievous sparkle in his eyes.”
