Rumours had been swirling about who would be replacing Ryan Tubridy on The Late Late Show.

While several big names confirmed that they would not be joining the show, including Miriam O’Callaghan and Claire Byrne, one name has been rising steadily in the ranks.

And now it’s been reported that Ryan’s replacement is a “done deal”.

Patrick Kielty is believed to be the latest host of the iconic chat show.

“It’s more or less a done deal,” The Independent reports.

They went on to say that they want to bring the flagship show in a “completely new direction“. They feel like the 52-year-old Down man is the perfect person to helm the ship.

“He’s also well able to do the light and the shade, which is something that Tubridy excelled at but can be quite tricky,“ the source adds.

They continued to say that RTÉ want to make the show more like Graham Norton’s BBC chat show.

As a father of two young children, seven-year-old Milo and four-year-old James, he’ll have no problem with The Toy Show.

The only issue is that Patrick currently hosts a radio talk show every Saturday morning on BBC 5 Live at 9am. It’s believed that they are working on ways to accommodate this.

So could Patrick be in the hot seat when the new season begins in September 2023?
