Martin King swapped The Six O’Clock Show for Ireland AM at the end of 2022.
It’s a big change for the presenter who has been the face of Virgin Media’s evening show since 2015.
Speaking at their spring launch, he tells VIP Magazine: “Having to get up at four in the morning is new to me. But there’s a good vibe already.”
So when did he know about joining the iconic morning show for the weekend lineup?
“I knew about it from September. I got a phone call and I was asked if I was interested in moving because Simon had left a massive gap,” he explains.
“They had some presenters in covering the role, but they wanted somebody long-term and they wanted it to be me.”
Of course, who wouldn’t want Martin on their show?
“I had to put my finger to my lip and I couldn’t say a word until we were allowed to talk about it. I wanted to tell my colleagues on The Six O’Clock Show a couple of weeks beforehand but the bosses said no.
“Then Greg was announced as the new presenter of The Six O’Clock Show and I was announced as the new presenter of Ireland AM. It was also announced that Katja was joining the team.”
