Could your child be the next Toy Show star? Here’s everything you need to know as applications officially open.
Yes, the search for the next generation of Late Late Toy Show stars is officially underway, with applications now open for this year’s much-loved Christmas special.
Parents, guardians and teachers can now put forward children who would love the chance to take part in the show, whether they have a special talent to showcase or simply want to demonstrate some of this year’s must-have toys.
Hosted by Patrick Kielty, The Late Late Toy Show is set to return later this year, although RTÉ has yet to announce the theme or exact broadcast date for the 2026 special.
And if you think you have a future star on your hands, there are plenty of ways they can get involved.
The application form asks whether children are applying for a toy demonstration, including the county parade, or a performance.
For those hoping to perform, applicants can choose from a solo act, choir, group or another type of performance.
Children aged between four and 16 can be put forward, with the application asking them to share a little bit about themselves, including what makes them special and what their Christmas wish would be.
They’ll also be asked who they normally watch The Late Late Toy Show with, who their favourite celebrities are and why, as well as what songs or music they’d love to see performed on the show.
And there’s a very important part of the application for any budding performers — a video showcasing their talent.
Speaking as the search gets underway, host Patrick Kielty encouraged children to dream big and put themselves forward.
“The stars of the Toy Show have always been our amazing kids. And this year we’re looking forward to them shining brighter than ever,” he said.
“So if you want to dream big and show Ireland and the world what you’ve got, the adventure starts here…”
Applications are now officially open, but you’ll need to get your entry in quickly as they close at midnight on Sunday, September 27.
So, if your child has always dreamed of stepping onto the Toy Show stage, this could be their chance to make that Christmas wish come true.
