It has just been announced today that RTE 2FM broadcaster Colm Hayes, is hanging up his headphones after ten years at the station.
The presenter is up there with the greats such as Gerry Ryan and Larry Gogan, however, he’s now decided that it’s time to move on and expand his career.
In statement released this morning, head of 2FM Dan Healy said that Colm is one of the best broadcasters that Ireland has, and that he will be missed very much by all at the radio station.
“Colm Hayes is one of the most outstanding broadcasters in the country. Over the last ten years he has produced some of the best radio on 2fm. Along with my colleagues I wish him continued success in his future career,” he said.
Since 2013, 2FM has undergone a number of changes that saw the Santry native move from his weekday afternoon slot, to working on various phone-in and drive-time shows, and most recently hosting his own weekend slot.
Colm Hayes commented, “I’ve loved my time at 2fm, and now is the time to move on. Just as 2fm is evolving and changing, so am I. I wish all the team in 2fm the best of luck and I’d like to say thank you to all the people I have worked with in RTÉ over the last ten years.”
We’ll miss you Colm.
