Ciarán Hinds and rising talent David McKenna are among the Irish names set to feature in the upcoming Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew, directed by Greta Gerwig.
The project will bring to life The Magician’s Nephew, the origin story of the iconic Narnia universe created by C. S. Lewis, marking the first-ever screen adaptation of the beloved novel.
David will take on the lead role of Digory Kirke, marking a significant step for the young Belfast actor, while Ciarán joins an all-star ensemble cast already packed with A-list talent.
Irish audiences will recognise Ciarán from his role as Tom on RTÉ’s The Dry.

The film also features Emma Mackey, Carey Mulligan, Daniel Craig, Meryl Streep, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith and Denise Gough.
“I was a child when I first read The Magician’s Nephew, and I fell in love with the gorgeously improbable but completely brilliant concept of a cosmic lion singing the world of Narnia to life,” she said.
“I didn’t know that I would grow up to make films, but a universe built out of music is an idea that always lived in my heart.

“It is the honour of a lifetime to be asked to imagine it into being,” she added.
“Because of C. S. Lewis’s The Chronicles of Narnia, I believed in magic and hidden worlds and adventure.”
The film is set for a global cinema release on 12 February 2027, before arriving on Netflix on 2 April.
Safe to say, we will be sat!
