Christina Wallace, wife of former Irish rugby star Paddy Wallace, has announced on Facebook that she is now “separated”, having split from her husband of 11 years. Paddy and Christina grew up in the same part of Belfast, and having started dating in 2003, they got married the following year, and have two young children.
It has come as a surprise to many, as the couple launched their own autism charity as recently as last Christmas, when they hosted the inaugural Paddy Wallace Fund for Autism Christmas Ball. The fund was started when the couple discovered that their son Jack suffered from autism, and guests at the star-studded Christmas fundraiser include Rory McIlroy, Tommy Bowe, Stephen Ferris, Iain Henderson, Mickey Harte and Ian Paisley jnr.
Paddy retired from professional rugby in 2013, and as well as his charitable activities also runs a rugby academy for 5-12 years olds in Northern Ireland. The Facebook post has already been removed, and neither Paddy nor Christina were available for comment, according to the Belfast Telegraph.
