Eoghan McDermott has spoken out about his split with girlfriend of two years Jo Archbold.
The pair, who appeared to be love’s young dream, broke up in May and have remained relatively quiet about the reason for their split.
However, the 2FM broadcaster revealed to the Sunday Independent that although he went into the relationship hoping for the best, it turned out it wasn’t meant to be.
“We were together for two years, and I guess with anyone you go into it in good faith, and it’s either going to be ‘the’ relationship or it’s not – and it wasn’t.”
Eoghan recently spoke out about his experience with self-harming following his first break-up when he was 26 however, the 33-year-old wants to make clear that he’s no longer in that same headspace.
He said, “I don’t want it to seem like every relationship I have, that maybe isn’t ‘the one’, is going to lead to some massive crisis.
“When (the self-harm) happened, it was at a time when I had my first serious relationship where I thought it might be ‘the one’ and it turned out not to be but I would go into relationships now a lot more self aware.”
