The fourth season of DIY SOS: The Big Build Ireland kicked off with a bang on Sunday night.
Everyone across the country settled in to watch the first episode of the feel-good show.
Host Baz Ashmawy and his team of volunteers come together to help a well-deserving family create the home of their dreams.
On Sunday night, the team headed down to Cork to help one such family and viewers couldn’t contain their tears.
Viewers met 22-year-old Adam Drummond as he is getting used to life in a wheelchair after falling from a height in 2021.
After sustaining major injuries he was told that there was a 100 per cent chance that he would never walk again.
At the time Adam was an Irish International basketball player who had played college basketball in the United States.
The DIY SOS team were enlisted as his home was completely unsuitable for a wheelchair user. They wanted to give Adam the chance to move back into his family home.
While they certainly had their work cut out for them, there really isn’t anything that the DIY SOS team can’t do.
Viewers took to social media to share their feelings about the emotional first episode.
Ok I know #DIYSOS is supposed to be moving but one thing I’m taking away from it is how making a home accessible doesn’t mean the home has to bland and characterless. Accessible architecture can be sexy-ish

Impossible to follow sport in Cork and not have heard Adam Drummonds name.
What a genuinely inspirational young man. A wonderful family, his mam and aunt are ladies to their core.
So heartwarming to see their community rally for them #DIYSOS— Eileen (@eileeno10) March 26, 2023
