He told Variety: “I’m actually in my parents’ house in Cork city. I was with my parents and my wife today. So that was really nice.

“We had a cup of tea and a slice of cake. It was quite nice. My mom made a sponge cake. It was very tasty.”

He admitted that it was nice to be able to enjoy the nomination during the day referring to the early announcement time in the States. The Oscar nominations were announced at 1:30pm Irish time!

He went on to say that he was “honoured and kind of overwhelmed” to receive his first nomination.
