Aslan have paid special tribute to their bandmate Christy Dignam on his 63rd birthday.
The singer celebrated his 63rd birthday yesterday May 23rd, just months after it was revealed he was receiving palliative care for cancer.
The band members posted a picture tribute to the bands frontman, performing on stage alongside them.
They captioned the photo: “Happy birthday Christy… keep fighting! Lots of love from us all.. Joe, Alan, Billy, Denise & Crew.”
The loving post for the Aslan band member comes just days after they had to respond to cruel rumours that their frontman had passed away.
In a statement on the band’s Facebook page they said: “We have been made aware that there are announcements/posts saying that Christy has passed this evening. Christy and his family and ourselves wish to confirm that is NOT true.”
Fans inundated the post with comments expressing their disgust over the cruelty shown by whoever started the rumour.
One fan wrote: “Can’t understand why people would put out such blatant lies and cause overwhelming upset. Sending lots of love and hugs to Christy and all the family and all the members of Aslan.”
Another wrote: “What a shameful thing to do, so disrespectful to Christy, his family and Aslan….Sending prayers and best wishes to Christy and family…. stay strong and positive during this difficult time.”
