Aslan’s new singer makes TV appearance debut on Six O’Clock Show

The band plans to play all of their tour dates

Aslan’s new singer, Lee Tomkins has made his first TV appearance with the band.

Following the band’s lead singer, Christy Dignam’s passing last summer, Aslan previously announced that they would now be fronted by Lee.

The news came following a statement from the band – which is made up of members Billy McGuinness, Joe Jewell and Alan Downey – where they confirmed their return to live music.

Lee, who hails from Glasnevin in Dublin, is a seasoned performer, having supported acts like Bon Jovi, Razorlight and The Coronas throughout his career.

The band performed on Virgin Media’s Six O’Clock Show where they sung the song Precious and spoke of being “lost” and “devastated” following Christy’s death.

“But one day we met up and went into the studio and all the gear was there and when we sat down and we actually started to play it was the greatest therapy for what we had gone through in the months previous,” shared Alan.

“It was a relief.”

Speaking about their upcoming gigs, the men had mixed emotions overall.

“It’s exciting but, obviously we’re going out with Lee now and Christy has passed,” said Billy.

“We haven’t gigged in a year and we’ve been doing this for 40 years, so for us not to be gigging, it feels very alien, so we really cannot wait for March 22 to step on that stage.

“It’s going to be very emotional for everyone there and for us, but look, life goes on and music goes on.”

Tickets for their upcoming shows are now available to purchase from Ticketmaster.
