Poor Domhnall Gleeson, the Hollywood elite really can’t seem to get their heads around his native Irish name.
The Revenant star’s name was famously butchered by his co-star Leonardo Di Caprio at the Golden Globes, when he referred to him as “Dumble Gleeson” when accepting his Best Actor gong.
Director Alejandro G Inarritu had a little trouble pronouncing his ‘Irish friend’ #DomhnallGleeson‘s name #BAFTAshttps://t.co/Uex75bHlPv

And last night at the BAFTAs, their director in the award-winning movie Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu made an even funnier mistake during his acceptance speech for Best Director.
The Mexican film maker’s attempts to pronounce the Star Wars actor’s name failed miserably and he instead referred to him as “Doughnut Gleeson”, affectionately calling him his Irish friend.
What with Saoirse Ronan experiencing similar mispronunciations of her name, we think the Irish stars should unite to teach the US A-listers a thing or two..
