Nicola Coughlan is a busy woman.
From Bridgerton to Only Murders in the Building, she’s going to be on our screens a lot more.
How exciting!
And now she has just landed a new role in a beloved book adaptation.
She will lend her voice to the new animated version of Charlie vs the Chocolate Factory, a new take on Roald Dahl’s novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Earlier this summer it was revealed that Kit Connor (Warfare, Rocketman, Heartstopper) would star as Charlie Paley and Taika Waititi (Klara and the Sun, Jojo Rabbit, Thor: Love and Thunder) would lend his voice to Willy Wonka.
Now Netflix has announced even more well-known faces joining the animated flick.
Nicola Coughlan will appear alongside Charithra Chandran (Bridgerton, ONE PIECE), Samson Kayo (F1: The Movie, Bloods), Christopher Chung (Slow Horses, My Brilliant Career), Kate Winslet (The Reader, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), and Helena Bonham Carter (One Life, Nolly).
While we don’t know what character Nicola will play we’re very excited.
So what can we expect from the film?
“In Charlie vs. the Chocolate Factory, Wonka (Waititi) has spent the years since the infamous Golden Ticket contest behind bars — and not the chocolate kind — for the crime of turning a child into a blueberry. Having served his time, he returns to his factory determined to add a little sweetness to a bitter world,” the synopsis reads.
“But one thing stands in his way: Charlie Paley (Connor) and his friends. Facing eviction, this next generation of so-called “rotten” kids hatch a plan to break into the factory, steal a priceless Wonka Bar, and save their homes. Like the children who came before them, however, they soon discover that the fantastical world inside the factory may be more than they can chew …”
The star-studded animated epic will come to theatres globally November 5th, 2027 and Netflix on December 22nd.
