Irish celebrities are nothing if not charitable – and Niall Horan and Rory McIlroy have been announced as two of the most selfless stars of 2015.
Rory McIlroy has certainly shown off his generous side over the past year, as the Irish golfer donated an incredible €1.26m to charity.
The Down native put his money to good use, after pledging €982,000 to the Rory McIlroy Foundation, and donating a further €314,000 to Mencap in Northern Ireland, according to the Sunday Times.
The sports star will be hosting the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open from May 19th-22nd, and will continue to donate to charity during the event.
He has partnered with LauraLynn, the Jack and Jill Foundation and Barretstown, and a percentage of money earned from the ticket sales will go directly to these charities.
Joining Rory on the list of charitable stars, includes our very own Niall Horan who alongside his band One Direction shared €1,057,000 last year. Of that money, €604,000 went to Believe in Magic, a charity for sick children.
