The first trailer and release date for Sally Rooney adaptation, Conversations with Friends have been revealed

The countdown for the latest Sally Rooney adaptation is on, and as we get closer to it airing we keep getting more sneak peeks at what to expect from the show! This week the trailer for the series haas finally dropped, and we got to see all the cast in their roles for the first time.

As the trailer was released we also got a little more information on when the series will hit screens. Although a specific date is yet to be revealed, show creators gave shared it’s coming in May 2022, so we really don’t have long left to wait!

The anticipation is high for this series after the astronomical success of Normal People, Sally Rooney’s second novel which aired on BBC and Hulu at the start of the pandemic. Now, with her first novel, Conversations with Friends being adapted fans are excited to watch it make the transition from page to screen!

The show has been filmed in Dublin and Belfast over the past 12 months and we can expect to see it hit our television’s in 2022.

Cork actress, Alison Oliver as been cast as protagonist, Frances and the show will also feature Sasha Lane from American Honey and The Miseducation of Cameron Post who will star as Bobbi. Joe Alwyn from The Favourite will be playing the role of Nick and Jemima Kirke from Sex Education and Girls who will play Melissa.

The story follows Frances, a 21-year-old college student, as she navigates a series of relationships that force her to confront her own vulnerabilities for the first time.

Oscar-nominated director Lenny Abrahamson, who was behind Normal People, has worked on the show sharing the directorial duties with Leanne Welham.

“I feel so excited to be collaborating with four such superb actors to bring Sally’s brilliant novel to the screen,” said Lenny.
