Following the attacks in Paris last weekend, Ronan O’Gara is considering moving back to Ireland, but will wait for a couple of weeks before making the final call.

The sportsman is currently living in France with his wife Jess and their five children, but following the events of this past week, Ronan is reconsidering his future there.

Writing in his column for the Irish Examiner, he explained that during the attacks last weekend, Ronan was away from his family and found the experience extremely “overpowering.”

“Friday night was an awful stomach-heaving experience. I was out at a charity dinner and away from the family. It was horrendous. My mum and dad were there with Jess, but the sense of helplessness was overpowering,” he said.

Ronan also admitted that it’s not been easy for himself or his family for the past week, and that they’re all nervous about what might unfold at any given moment.

“On the quiet, early morning streets of Paris, I’m not going to lie, you slow down coming into every junction or heading into anything you don’t have full sight of.

“Jessica is a bit scared too. Five children. Away from home. Probably yearning for Cork. The whole episode has us looking homewards again,” he said.

Ronan continued, “Am I rattled? Damn right I am. This is too random. It keeps going around in my head.

“Let’s see how the next few weeks pan out. You’d have to consider everything after what has happened.”
