Football pundit Richie Sadlier got candid about his journey to fatherhood on The Tommy Tiernan Show.
Richie and his wife Fiona welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Sam, last month. But Sam’s arrival followed a long journey of trying for a baby. With the couple being told they could not conceive, attempting several rounds of IVF over fours years, before Fiona fell pregnant naturally in 2022.
Sharing: “We did a round of IVF every year for four years and nothing worked. I completely underestimated the heartache of it not working.”
“I’m only recently at the stage where I can say the phrase ‘my son’ without crying”
Speaking with Tommy, the former footballer confessed all of the struggles mattered less once baby Sam was born.
“When he came out, all the other shite we had gone through, not that it didn’t hurt, but none of that matters now. We are the luckiest people ever,” Richie explained.
Viewers were immediately impressed with the Dubliners honesty, taking to social media with plenty of praise.
