Does this man ever stop?
Paul Mescal has landed yet another iconic role it would seem.
It has been reported that the Maynooth man is in talks to play William Shakespeare in an upcoming film.
Honestly, we love the vision.
And Paul isn’t the only Irish named attached.
Kerry actress, Jessie Buckley is also rumoured to be in discussions about joining the film, Deadline reports.
It looks like she would be taking on the role of Agnes, William Shakespeare’s wife.
So what is the film about?
Well, it would be an adaptation of Hamnet, a novel by Northern Irish author Maggie O’Farrell.
The historical fiction novel looks at Shakespeare’s wife, Agnes as she struggles to deal with the loss of her 11-year-old son, Hamnet. The tragedy that inspired the playwright to write Hamlet.
Hamnet was named a New York Times Notable Book (2020) as well as Best Book of 2020 by The Guardian, Financial Times, Literary Hub, and NPR.
It also won the 2020 Women’s Prize for Fiction and the Fiction Prize at the 2020 National Book Critics Circle Awards and was shortlisted for the Walter Scott Prize.
Nomadland’s Chloé Zhao is set to direct the film.
It’s not the first time that Paul and Jessie have been in a project together, they both starred in The Lost Daughter in 2021. However, neither of them shared any scenes in that film.
