Panti Bliss has been taking the world by storm for quite some time now. The drag performer is no stranger to the stage, but Dancing with the Stars is a whole different kettle of fish.

While he’s been able to keep his nerves under control, Panti AKA Rory O’Neill admits that it’s a whole new experience.

However, one look at social media shows that all of Ireland is in Panti’s corner supporting the Queen of Ireland.

Speaking ahead of Movie Night, Panti tells VIP Magazine that he’s blown away by the support.

“People are going to be mostly nice to my face,” he laughs.

”I have the Mayo vote locked up and I’m going to force the queers to vote for me.”

But it’s not just his followers who have been supporting him, he tells us that ”people have been lovely”.

”I didn’t realise how many people watched it and how many people got into it. People have stopped me on the street to talk about it. Lots of ladies of a certain age have told me that me and Marie are their favourites.

”They might just be saying that but I suspect that because we’re the two oldest contestants that might be it,” he jokes.

Of course, he and his dance partner, Denys Samson are making history as the first same sex couple on Dancing with the Stars. Unfortunately, Panti had prepared for trolls.

However, he was left pleasantly surprised by how positive everyone has been.

”I was prepared for really nasty comments but I have had none of that on this. I have been pleasantly surprised in that regard,” he admits.

Long may Panti Bliss reign.

Dancing with the Stars continues on RTÉ One on Sunday at 6:30pm
