As our very own Conor McGregor prepares for the biggest fight of his life, against the undefeated boxing champion Floyd Mayweather, we decided to take a look back at some of the extravagant UFC fighter’s best and funniest moments!
1: When he proved himself to be the champ, in 13 seconds!
Back in late 2015, Conor was on top of the world as the undefeated champion in his weight class. He was smashing records all over the place, but this one seemed even more impressive. The Crumlin man took on Brazilian Nate Diaz and recorded the fastest ever knock out in UFC history. Now if that wasn’t the perfect set up to get him to where he is today then we don’t know what is!
2: When he made Mick Konstantin’s year!
Mick Konstantin captured all of our hearts with his mega hit There’s Only One Conor McGregor, about his favourite fighting champ. It ignited pride in Irish hearts all over and it turns out, The Notorious was no exception. After the video of Mick singing went viral, Conor contacted him to not only tell him he loved the song, but to fly him out to Vegas as well give him tickets to the big fight. What a sound lad he is!
3: When he apologised… to absolutely nobody!
After becoming the first person ever in UFC history to simultaneously hold the title in two weight divisions, it seemed for a minute that the uber confident Crumlin man was having a very humble moment n victory… But alas, it turned out to be one of his most iconic moments ever!
“I’ve spent a lot of time slating everyone in the company,” Conor told the ringside reporter.
“Backstage I’m starting fights with everybody. I’ve ridiculed everyone on the roster.
“And I’d just like to say from the bottom of my heart, I’d like to take this opportunity to apologise… to absolutely nobody! The double champ does what the f**k he wants!”
4: When he supported his stunning girlfriend Dee at the VIP Style Awards
Dee and Conor were nothing less than couple goals at the 2016 VIP Style Awards, where she appeared to collect her Most Stylish Newcomer Award. The beauty stunned in a red, cleavage bearing Grecian gown, while her man was the perfect accessory in a fitted three-piece navy suit. So he’s not just an absolute beast in the ring, he’s also a gentleman to his lady….swoon.
5:When he gave these young Dublin lads the opportunity of a lifetime
Conor McGregor is a seriously lucrative business man, as well as a phenomenal sports person. His appeal reached as far as the multi-national company, Beats by Dre, who took him on as a brand ambassador this year. But instead of doing an ad for the company solo, the 29-year0old Dubliner gave a few kids from the inner city the chance to be recognised worldwide. Check out the amazing ad below.
