Muireann O’Connell and Tommy Bowe are the dream team. They joke that they are like siblings.
And while they admit that they are like chalk and cheese, never agreeing on a single thing, they are the best of friends.
In fact, Muireann has credited Tommy with helping her stop “spiral” after making a mistake.
The pair are no strangers to a blunder – 10 siblings anyone? While Tommy has been able to shake things off pretty easily, Muireann tells us that she found it harder to move on.
Speaking to VIP Magazine, Muireann revealed that it was one phrase from Tommy that changed her entire outlook on things.
“I would normally make mistakes and I would spiral and go down. I would beat myself up for weeks,” Muireann explains at Virgin Media’s spring launch.
“But Tommy has really changed my mindset. It’s been since I started working on the show. He was like, ‘What is wrong with you?’ I was dying on the couch thinking I was going to lose my job, it’s done, it’s over. He was like, ‘It’s done, it’s over. Next play, move on.’
“That’s something that I have in my head all the time now. Even in real life, when I make a mistake and the housemate is about to walk out the door. Next play, move on. I think it’s a beautiful thing, so we’re not spiralling.”
Tommy beams as he tells us: “Ireland AM is going to go on. We’re going to have to do the next segment about menopause or cooking pavlova. There’s no point dwelling on it, we can worry about it when the show’s over.“
Muireann couldn’t help but gush about the entire Ireland AM team
“We work with the best people. It’s not just me and Tommy and Alan there. We have a team around us. And we know that Deric is going to some sort of movement that makes it look like he’s stimulating sex on TV numerous times a week.
“Then we have our floor crew who are completely brilliant. We are always having the craic and a natter. It’s really nice that we all get along.“
How sweet are they!
