Mary Black has been forced to postpone her Vicar Street gig due to illness.
The singer was due to perform at the Dublin venue on Friday, April 20th and Saturday 21st but a statement was released on Wednesday to say that she would not be able to go ahead with the concert.
“I’m so sorry to say that Mary is not well enough to perform this weekend in Vicar St. (20th and 21st April),” her manager Joe O’Reilly said.
“She is very upset at having to reschedule these concerts but has no alternative as she is extremely weak after her spell in hospital. She has been strongly advised by her doctors to rest and be well enough to complete the rest of the tour.
He revealed that the dates that have been postponed are rescheduled for August 24th and 25th.
He added: “Sincere apologies to all who have been inconvenienced by this.”
Earlier last week Mary said she was hoping to be well enough to perform after a time in St Vincents.
“I’m being treated this week in St Vincent’s Hospital, Dublin. It’s been a tough week but I’m hoping to get home on Saturday,” she said last Thursday.
“Thanks to all the doctors and nurses for their kindness and care for me here. Hoping to get home on Saturday and certainly haven’t ruled out Vicar St next Weekend… fingers crossed. Thanks for all the messages of support.”
The star also had to postpone several gigs in Killarney and Waterford telling fans: “My health has gotten progressively worse and this week the doctor told me I have shingles as well as a throat and ear infection!”
These gigs were rescheduled for July 20th and 21st.
