Two Irish artists share their delight as their songs play on Love Island

The music is an integral part of Love Island, it lifts the mood or brings it right back down.

The ITV series is a fan of using Irish musicians, especially during those heartbreaking moments when we see the islanders go through a break-up.

Dermot Kennedy is a go-to for the reality series, but recently two of our favourite Irish up-and-coming artists have also been given some love.

Orla Gartland, who is currently on tour, was over the moon when she heard her song You’re Not Special Babe played on Monday night’s episode.

“yesterday I broke my toe and then my song ‘you’re not special babe’ was in love island so yes we all go from heartbreak to happy to heartbreak etc,” she cheekily tweeted.

Orla’s song Why Am I Like This? went viral after it featured in Netflix’s Heartstopper earlier this year, so we hope she has that replicated for her latest feature!

Meanwhile, singer Aimée was equally as delighted when she heard her song Bulletproof on Tuesday night’s episode.

She admitted: “Something that I’ve manifested came true tonight…I can’t believe it.”

“My song Bulletproof was on Love Island. I wrote it in my room during lockdown…I was really struggling. Amazing things happen when you push through hard times and never give up.”

She jokingly wrote: “Poor girl is heartbroken…meanwhile me,” along with a video of her sharing her delight while contestant Danica cried on the screen.

She captioned the video of her sharing her delight: “anyone else wish they could give @_danicataylor a hug can’t believe my song “bulletproof” was on love island tonight thank you all so much for your lovely messages x.”
