Lottie Ryan is opening up about her late father, radio icon Gerry Ryan, sharing how he would have made an “an incredible grandfather.”
Lottie welcomed her baby boy, Wolf, back in 2021, and tragically Gerry never got to meet his grandchild, but Lottie is working hard to keep his memory alive, and even sees a resemblance between baby Wolf and her father.
“I don’t know whether I’m pushing myself to see it sometimes, but I definitely see him in Wolf sometimes.”
“And listen, maybe that’s me wanting it more than it actually being reality. I definitely feel him for having made everything be such a good positive journey so far,” she told The Irish Mail On Sunday.
The mum-of-one also shared how her late father help her during complications with her pregnancy.
Wolf was born premature and had to spend a lot of time in ICU, while mum Lottie also had to recover. But it was during this time the Dubliner felt her father’s presence.
“I think, with everything that went on with the pregnancy and birth, there’s no way he [Gerry] wasn’t looking after me, making sure everybody survived,” the radio presenter shared.
“I think he would have been like a f****** incredible granddad.”
Continuing: “He would have been that granddad that wanted to always babysit. I’d say he never would have shut up about him.”
2FM star Gerry tragically died suddenly on the 30th of April 2010 at the age of 53.
Lottie has followed in her father’s footsteps, joining radio station 2FM in 2018.
