There was mass concern for Irish actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers in May when he was spotted walking the streets of London drinking vodka from the bottle, but he has since put the ‘minor relapse’ behind him and got back to work.
Jonathan is filming a new drama, London Town, in which he stars as rock legend Joe Strummer – the lead singer from The Clash.
He was pictured on set of the movie looking remarkably like Joe, while wearing ripped jeans, a slogan t-shirt, leather biker boots and carrying a guitar on his back.
During breaks on set, Jonathan was sure to spend time with fans who gathered in the area. He took time to chat to them all individually and was happy to sign autographs.
The star seems to be well and truly back to his usual self after the images of his relapse emerged in May.
Posting on his fiance Mara Lane’s Instagram at the time, he said, “Mara and I are thankful for your support and kindness during this time. I apologise for having a minor relapse and hope that people don’t think too badly of me.”
He went on to say, “I am on the mend and thank well wishers and sorry for my dishevelled appearance as I was on my way home from a friend’s and had not changed. I feel I made a mistake and feel quite embarrassed.”
