Dancing With The Stars contestant Darren Kennedy has called on the show to allow same-sex couples dance together during switch up week.

The stylist, who is partnered with last year’s winner Karen Byrne, spoke to Ryan Tubridy on The Late Late Show last night, and said he thinks it would be a great move for the popular show.

“When I was chatting to Lorraine the judge the other day and she teaches same-sex couples to dance and there’s a lot of it in the competitive world apparently,” Darren shared.

“I think why not? It’s representative of the audience at home. I mean, our Taoiseach is a happily, dancing, gay man. It’s not a big deal really to see two men dancing.

“It hasn’t been done on Strictly in the UK, I think Italy may have done it or somewhere like that. It’d be a bit of craic.”

Darren will take to the dance floor again this week, after revealing that he had injured his ankle in training for his performance last week.

Dancing With The Stars Ireland will be on RTE One tomorrow evening at 6.35pm.
