Kin fans have been eager to find out if and when the series would be returning.
Half a million people tuned in to watch the season finale of season two, eager to find out what happened to the Kinsellas.
Now RTÉ has responded to these comments in a statement to VIP Magazine.
Back in 2023, The Irish Mirror says that the third instalment was filmed over the summer as the stakes are higher than ever.
As if that wasn’t enough, The Sunday World reports that a fourth season has also been greenlit.
However, The Irish Sun has now claimed that the show will not return for a third season.
Actor Sinan Sicimoglu plays the boss of a pawn shop in the series has said that it would be “impossible” for the show to continue.
“It’s the end of the Kinsellas because all the main actors signed three-year contracts in 2020 to appear in Kin, but it’s now 2024 and those contract have run out,” he told the publication.
He went on to say that the main actors Charlie Cox, Clare Dunne, Emmett Scanlan, Sam Keeley and Maria Doyle Kennedy are all very busy and it looks unlikely that they will be able to return.
A spokesperson for RTÉ tells VIP Magazine: “All the partners are in discussions about a third series but there is nothing to announce at the moment.”
