Sir Bob Geldof has finally confirmed his marriage to long-term girlfriend Jeanne Marine.
The loved-up couple, who have been together for 19 years, secretly tied the knot last month in an intimate ceremony in the South of France.
And now, for the first time, the Boomtown Rats frontman has spoken out about the special day.
“I’m really happy,” the Irish musician told The Sun, “It was a good day, it was great fun.”
Bob proposed to French actress Jeanne shortly after the death of his daughter Peaches last April who tragically died of a heroin overdose.
The pair met and fell in love in Paris in 1996, after Bob’s first marriage to Paula Yates had failed.
”It was an improbable encounter between a woman who doesn’t speak English and a boy who doesn’t speak French; between a stunning, beautiful woman and a ruined, ruined man”, Geldof said, reminiscing about the duo’s first meeting.
The wedding was attended by Bob’s daughters Fifi and Pixie, as well as his widowed son-in-law Tom Cohen. It is thought that Tom may have been there with his rumoured new girlfriend Georgia Keeling.
Tom married Bob’s second-eldest daughter Peaches in 2012 and together they had two sons, Astala, three, and Phaedra, who turned two in April, before she shockingly passed away.
