RTE recently headed down to Co.Wexford to meet Ed Sheeran’s granny, and after giving an overwhelmingly endearing interview, it seems that the 92-year-old might be surpassing him on the popularity scale.
The Shape of You singer has a number of relatives on his dad’s side who hail from county Wexford, and fans were introduced to his favourite Wexford woman, granny Nancy in a recent video about his Irish connections – and she did not disappoint!
In traditional Irish granny fashion, she doesn’t seem to be too bothered by his international superstar status – she’s just happy he’s doing something he loves.
“I’ll never think of him as being famous I have to say,” she told RTE News.
“He’s exactly the same as he always is when he visits. And it’s very rare because he’s always working and when you think he was working from the age of 14, you’d have to feel sorry for him, you know he’s so tired but he loved it.
“He’s perfectly normal.”
She also went through old family albums and picked out some adorable photos of Ed as a child.
