Doireann Garrihy has jetted off on a family holiday abroad with husband Mark Mehigan and their baby daughter Rosie, but the trip didn’t exactly begin without a few bumps in the road.
The RTÉ star has been giving followers a glimpse into the family’s sunshine getaway on Instagram, revealing that a series of travel mishaps put their patience to the test before they could properly relax.
After finally arriving at their destination following a delayed flight, Doireann shared a video of the resort as the sun rose over the pool, telling followers: “After a monumental sh*tshow with our car rental company, it’s holiday time.”
While it appears the family are now settling into their break, the 33-year-old admitted another holiday headache awaited her after unpacking.
Sharing a selfie from the trip, Doireann joked that she had accidentally packed all the wrong clothes.
“When you finish the unpacking and realise you weren’t imagining it – you did in fact only pack Summer clothes from last year (when you were 7 months pregnant) and the Summer before (when you were two dress sizes smaller),” she wrote.
The radio presenter laughed off the wardrobe mishap, but made it clear there was one member of the family who was perfectly prepared for the sunshine escape.
Later, she revealed that baby Rosie’s holiday wardrobe was a much bigger success, quipping: “Rosie’s looks are sensational though and we know that’s all that matters.”
Doireann and comedian Mark welcomed their first child, Rosie, in October last year, and the broadcaster has been sharing occasional glimpses of life as a first-time mum with her followers ever since.
Despite the less-than-smooth start, it looks like the family are now making the most of some well-earned time away in the sun.
“Our priorities have shifted. All of our free time is spent with Rosie, and we wouldn’t have it any other way,” she said.
