On Sunday night we saw Doireann Garrihy take to the stage alongside co-host Jennifer Zamparelli for her Dancing with the Stars debut and boy did she deliver!
But before delving into her presenting duties, Dorieann and Jennifer gave us a taste of their very own dancing skills, and if their opening number is anything to go by we have high hopes for this season.
Watching the show, it’s hard to think that Doireann had any pre-show nerves but surprisingly that wasn’t the case at all!
Speaking to Ryan Tubridy on RTE Radio 1, Doireann admitted that she did feel a bit nervous before going on air.
“[Night one] felt amazing. I was nervous yesterday,” she revealed. “I was jittery during the dry runs, but I kind of think it’s good to get the jitters out then.”
“Let that be that, go have a little sit down in the dressing room, breathe, have a cup of tea,” she added.
Doireann also mentioned that the opening sketch was pre-recorded and that watching it before showtime actually helped calm her down.
Saying: “Standing in the wings and watching that really relaxed me – we’d been seen then.”
Despite the nerves, Doireann added that she couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of the show, commenting that with everything going on in the news, Dancing with the Stars has been something to look forward to.
“I’ve never really looked forward to January in my life, and so to have a January that I was just so excited about, with glitz and glamour and fun, was just amazing.”
Well, between Dancing with the Stars and her presenting duties on 2FM, it’s safe to say that Doireann is in for quite the busy start to the new year.
Dancing with the Stars continues on Sunday.
