Daniel O’Donnell took to social media to share thanks to his loyal fans after the passing of his sister.

His sister, Kathleen, sadly passed away earlier this year from a suspected heart attack.

Daniel and his family were saddened by her sudden death as she had not been ill.

A month later, the singer shared a heartfelt message to those who supported him during the difficult time.

“We, the family of the late Kathleen (Bosco) Doogan, wish to thank most sincerely all those who sympathised with us on the loss of a dear wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister and aunt who died suddenly on Feb 3rd,” the statement read.

“Heartfelt thanks to those who provided our family with support during this sad and difficult time, to all who attended the wake or funeral and to those who sent mass or sympathy cards, phone calls, flowers and messages.

“Special thanks to The Cope and Supervalu in Dungloe, Eamon Kelly at Celtic Hygene and to all our friends and neighbours who brought food to the house and for looking after us during the wake, for just being there and for sharing our grief with us, especially when the news first broke and we needed you most.

“Thanks to John Paul and Lee for helping with the parking, Fr Pat Ward for getting to the house so quickly that morning and for being a great support to us over the course of the wake and funeral.”

The statement continued: “Thank you to Fr Aodhan Cannon, Fr Nigel Gallagher, Fr Brian D’Arcy and Fr John Joe Duffy for concelebrating the funeral mass with Fr Pat, to all those who took part in the funeral mass to make it a very special service.

“Thanks to the ambulance service and the Gardai who were so compassionate when they arrived, to the undertakers Shaun Mc Glynn and Josie Gallagher for their professional and respectful service especially managing to get mum home so quickly.

“Thanks also to Pat The Cope Gallagher for his assistance and a special thanks to the 2 guards who helped with traffic the morning of the funeral. Garda Peter McGee and Garda Marcus O Dowd.”

“It’s impossible to thank everyone individually but please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our deepest gratitude.”

Daniel previously told The Sunday World: “Our entire family is in shock because it was so sudden.”

“It happened so quickly, there was no warning. Kathleen hadn’t been sick. She was well that morning, doing normal things. That’s why it’s so hard to take in.”
