Cillian Murphy confirmed to return for Peaky Blinders film

Peaky Blinders fans had been holding out hope for the promised film.

However, it didn’t look very promising as there had been some back and forth about if the film was being made.

Especially with Cillian Murphy having so many upcoming roles and the creator Steven Knight working on his new Netflix series House of Guinness.

But now we have some good news as the film is officially in the works with Cillian Murphy set to return.

The show’s creator Steven Knight shared the exciting news at the premiere of his new BBC show This Town on Thursday.

Steven told BirminghamWorld: “[Cillian] is definitely returning for it. We’re shooting it in September just down the road in Digbeth.”

The upcoming flick will be filmed at Birmingham’s Digbeth Loc Studios in September.

This film is set to be based during World War II following the events of the first six seasons of the show.

Despite the uncertainty, Cillian has always been up for another instalment into the Peaky universe.

“If there’s more story there, I’d love to do it. But it has to be right. Steve Knight wrote 36 hours of television, and we left on such a high. I’m really proud of that last series. So, it would have to feel legitimate and justified to do more,” he previously told Rolling Stone.

Ahead of winning the Oscar, he told The Irish Star: “I have always said that if Knight delivers a script that I know he can deliver, because he is such a phenomenal writer, I’ll be there. … If we want to watch 50-year-old Tommy Shelby, I will be there. Let’s do it.”

Well, we can’t wait to see this new movie!
