Actor Andrew Scott has backed Aidan Turner to be the next James Bond when current 007, Daniel Craig, passes on the torch (or gun as it were).
The tv heartthrob has gained quite a name for himself since Poldark, as well as other projects which have seen him starring opposite the likes of Henry Cavill, Idris Elba and Tom Hiddleston.
It was previously rumoured that Aidan had been in preliminary talks with Bond producers in Los Angeles about the role but nothing has been confirmed yet.
Andrew Scott, who starred in Bond movie, Spectre, told The Herald that he believes that Aidan, a fellow Irishman, would be a great Bond because he is a very talented actor.
“I am sure Aidan would be good at it, absolutely. He would be great, he is a great actor. I do not know if it is definite that Daniel has left, who knows when that will be,” he said.
Speaking at the Broadcasting Press guild Awards last month in London, Poldark producer Karen Tunstall also teased about Aidan playing the role.
She collected the Breakthrough award on his behalf, and teased sarcastically at his absence, saying “I am sure it is nothing to do with James Bond, but we will see…”.
We would love to see this happen!
