Aidan O’Mahony admits being away from baby Lucia has been “very hard”

The former Kerry GAA star and his wife Denise welcomed their first child into the world last week.

It hasn't been easy for him.
He doesn’t like being away from his newborn

Aidan O’Mahony has admitted it hasn’t been easy for him to be away from his newborn, as he prepares for tonight’s Dancing with the Stars semi-final.

The former Kerry GAA player and his wife Denise welcomed their first child, Lucia, into the world last Thursday, but unfortunately for Aidan, he had to return to rehearsals shortly after, which has proved difficult for him.

However, he’s found that his new arrival has given him a positive mindset for the show.

“Last week was a very joyous week for us, and doing the dance last Sunday was more relaxed for me, because obviously when you have an eventful week like we had, my baby and my wife came first.”  he told the Irish Mail on Sunday.

“This week I am looking forward to the semi-final because when you have a baby, you have a very positive mindset.”

Although he’s delighted to have gotten so far in the show, he’s admitted it has been difficult to leave his newborn at home while he goes to rehearsals.

“I thought I’d be home long before this, to be there to mind the baby. My wife has been very supportive and last weekend was very hard for me, coming away from the baby.

“But my wife said ‘Look, you’ve started it, you might as well finish it and give it 110%” – that’s the way I’ve always been in sport and work.”

Watch Aidan strut his stuff on tonight’s Dancing with the Stars at 6:30pm on RTE One.
