Netflix confirmed this week that the film is coming!
They shared a picture of the script that read: “A Peaky Blinders Film”.
This confirmed that the show’s creator Steven Knight would be writing the movie and of course, Cillian Murphy would be back as Tommy Shelby!
They captioned the picture: “BIG NEWS: A #PeakyBlinders film is coming to Netflix!
“‘It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me… It is very gratifying to be recollaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans.’ – Cillian Murphy.”
Oh. Em. Gee!
Earlier this year, the show’s creator Steven told BirminghamWorld: “[Cillian] is definitely returning for it. We’re shooting it in September just down the road in Digbeth.”
The upcoming flick will be filmed at Birmingham’s Digbeth Loc Studios in September.
This film is set to be based during World War II following the events of the first six seasons of the show.
Despite the uncertainty, Cillian has always been up for another instalment into the Peaky universe.
“If there’s more story there, I’d love to do it. But it has to be right. Steve Knight wrote 36 hours of television, and we left on such a high. I’m really proud of that last series. So, it would have to feel legitimate and justified to do more,” he previously told Rolling Stone.
Ahead of winning the Oscar, he told The Irish Star: “I have always said that if Knight delivers a script that I know he can deliver, because he is such a phenomenal writer, I’ll be there. … If we want to watch 50-year-old Tommy Shelby, I will be there. Let’s do it.”
Well, we can’t wait to see this new film!
