Ex-Westlife star Nicky Byrne has responded to rumours that he will represent Ireland at this year’s Eurovision in Sweden.
The singer, and 2FM presenter, has addressed speculation that he will be embarking on his first solo music project since the band split – but he refused to confirm or deny the reports.
According to the Irish Independent, RTE will scrap the open Eurosong competition and will select the 2FM presenter internally, though the national broadcaster refused to confirm this.
Speaking on his radio show today, Nicky said: “I don’t comment on rumours, I never have done and anything you’ve read are unconfirmed reports,” he said.
His cheeky co-host didn’t do anything to stop the rumour mill from going overdrive, however, when she chipped in that the winning song from the contest could feature in her upcoming wedding.
“The winning song from the Eurovision may or may not be performed live at my wedding but that’s where I’m leaving it,” she teased.
Nicky recently revealed that he had returned to the studio to record new music. We’re crossing our fingers that the rumours are true!
