Liam Neeson has revealed while he decided to turn down a role in the Bond movies over 20 twenty years ago.
The Irish star was approached to play the iconic role of James Bond before it was given to Pierce Brosnan, however turned it down as his late wife wasn’t keen on the idea.
Natasha Richardson, who tragically passed away in 2009, didn’t like the idea of him playing 007 at all, and he decided to put her views ahead of his career.
Speaking to Men’s Journal, he said, “I was being considered. I’m sure they were considering a bunch of other guys too.
“Women. Foreign countries. Halle Berry… It’s understandable. She was like, ‘You’re going to ruin your career.’ It’s no big deal. It’s nice to be inquired after.”
Liam also revealed that after being involved in an accident which nearly killed him in 2000, he now refuses to take on any roles which would see him ride a motorbike.
He said, “I’ve read a couple of scripts where the character’s on a motorbike and I’m like, ‘Is this important to the script?’ ‘Yeah, it is.’ ‘Okay, I’m not in.'”
