
Dónal Finn has exploded onto the scene in recent months with his roles in Young Sherlock and The Other Bennet Sister.
He even got his first invite to The Met Gala at the beginning of May.

Who is Dónal Finn?

Dónal hails from a farming family in Cork.
He was awarded a three-year scholarship at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art through the Overstall Charitable Trust and graduated from the college back in 2018.

Dónal starred in Caitlin Moran’s How to Build a Girl, alongside Beanie Feldstein in 2019. He also played a peasant in Netflix’s The Witcher the same year.
He also had a small role in the Harry Potter universe in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore in 2022.

He starred alongside Sinners and 28 Years Later actor Jack O’Connell in BBC’s SAS: Rogue Heroes.
He garnered viral fame for his role in West End Musical, Hadestown. He played Orpheus in the beloved musical with his rendition, Wait for Me, circulating TikTok and Instagram.
He also appeared in fantasy series The Wheel of Time alongside Rosamund Pike.
However, he really exploded onto the scene this year with two projects – Prime Video’s Young Sherlock, where he played James Moriarty.
The series, which follows a college student Sherlock Holmes before he is the master detective that we know, has already been renewed for a second season.
BBC’s The Other Bennet Sister, is a retelling of Pride and Prejudice from overlooked sister, Mary’s point of view. Dónal plays Tom Hayward and has captured the hearts of viewers around the globe.

What’s next for Dónal?
Well, he will return for the second season of Young Sherlock, which will go into production soon.
He just finished a run in John Proctor is the Villain on stage in London. The production is due to transfer to the West End next year. While casting hasn’t been confirmed for the transfer we’re keeping our fingers crossed Dónal will be on stage again.
