Daniel O’Donnell may be on the music scene since the ’80s, but it seems the Donegal crooner still has the ability to make hearts flutter.
The Donegal singer was voted off BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing over the weekend, but fans need not worry as he is back on our screens with wife Majella next week.
The pair, who have been married ten years, are kicking off their new six-part series Daniel and Majella’s B&B Road Trip on UTV Ireland on Monday, and judging from this clip from the first episode, we’re in for a treat.
The premise of the show is that the couple travel around the country and stay in various accommodation, and the owner of one B&B also happens to be Daniel’s #1 fan.
Anne Sheerin, owner of Anne’s B&B in Tulsk Co. Roscommon, gets overwhelmed with excitement upon the couple’s arrival, and her reaction is simply priceless.
In the new series, Daniel and Majella experience craic, ceol and comraderie, as they stay in B&B accommodation around Ireland. Speaking about their experiences whilst recording the show, Majella said: “We really enjoyed it; it was lovely. When you’re in cities all the time, the old Irish ways seem to fall by the wayside, but I feel that we really did reach the heart of Ireland.”
Daniel added: “The fact that we got to interact with so many different people was, for me, the best part. We stayed in different types of houses and everyone had something to offer. It was nice to travel and see Ireland.
“I have travelled Ireland umpteen times, just trying to get somewhere. This time we were really looking at it. Ireland has so much to offer – whether you’re by the coast or inland.”
The first episode of Daniel and Majella’s B&B Road Trip will be broadcast on UTV Ireland on Monday 26 October at 8pm.
