Ireland AM presenter Ciara Doherty has opened up about her hopes to start a family soon. The 35-year-old is set to marry her fiancé Richard Stearn this summer.
Speaking to the Irish Daily Mirror Ciara said that she loves children, but is aware of her age as she embarks on this new part of her life.
“I do enjoy spending time with kids and handing them back but I’d say children are probably on the cards in the not too distant future, particularly as I’m getting married and turning 35.
“You’re definitely more conscious of your age at 35. I try not to think about it too much because if I do I get a little stressed.
“It’s a bit unfair; everybody says after 35, it gets a bit more difficult to have a baby.
“It does creep up on you way too quickly; I may have enjoyed my twenties a bit too much and into my thirties.
“So I’ve had to say, enough’s enough, ‘fish or cut bait,’ isn’t that what they say, but everyone tells me motherhood is worth it.
“Somebody has told me how efficient you become with your time when you become a mother and I’ll be a new person, no procrastination,” she said.
