While he tells VIP Magazine that he is bubbling over with excitement for his first show, there is one thing that he’s looking forward to the most.
And it may come around Christmas…
And it may have something to do with toys!
The Down man tells VIP Magazine ahead of his debut on Friday night: “There’s two things here. There’s the first show and then there’s the Toy Show.
“Whenever I got this gig, I was like, ‘Oh my God! That’s the one.’ The first show is the one we really want to get out of the way, but once we get bedded in and stuff like that, we’ll kick on and see how we get on.”
He goes on to say that there are offices dedicated just to The Toy Show, so he knows just how serious it all is. But he will be focusing on getting the new series off the ground before starting to worry too much about that side of things.
It’s not just Patrick who is buzzing for The Toy Show, his two sons will definitely be excited for the special show as well.
“There’ll be a show sometime before Christmas where I have to dress up slightly differently that the requests may come in for a trip,” he jokes before adding that they definitely won’t be involved on-screen for the show.
And his kids are taking this all in their stride, with Patrick telling us: “I think the thing with our lives is that we’ve always had moving parts. Neither of us has had a nine-to-five job. There’s always been stuff where Cat has gone and done stuff, then I’ve gone and done stuff.
“It feels weirdly that this show is the most routine that we’re going to have as a family. It’s nice that I still get to do a couple of school runs at the start of the week. Coming from Co. Down and still having a house there, I get to see the other part of the family here. It’s not so much of an upheaval as you would think.”
The Late Late Show airs on Friday 15th September, 9:35pm on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player.
