Yes, you read that correctly, Taylor Swift has officially been invited to Achill Island after the pop icon fell in love and praised Martin McDonagh’s latest film sensation, Banshees of Inisherin.
Like pretty much everyone else in the world, the singer/songwriter was instantly impressed not only with the movie but with Achill and Inis Mór which were used to portray the fictional Inisherin.
Just last month, Taylor expressed her desire to visit the pub depicted in the movie during an interview with Variety and McDonagh himself.
Saying: “The pub that you built. It just blew my mind that that was something you built. It looked like it had been there forever.”

McDonagh joked that if the film did “really, really, really well”, maybe they could build it again, to which Taylor replied: “I’d like to float that idea. I’ll go!!”
The US singer continued to express her love for the movie adding: “It’s such a special film.”
“Watching it with other people, I think it’s one of those films that’s going to hit home and make people think and make people talk about it afterwards. Because I’ve been talking about it ever since.”
Following all that praise, the Manager of Achill Tourism, Chris McCarthy told RTÉ’s Morning Ireland programme: “Who am I to argue with Taylor Swift?
And revealed that they had correspondence with the singer, reminding the star that there were 13 pubs on the island.
“The character [of the Banshees pub] is here. And you’ll find the best chowder and Guinness in all of Ireland here on Achill,” he added in a tempting offer.
The movie cleaned up nicely at the Golden Globes earlier this week with an array of awards, while Colin Farrell couldn’t help but praise residents of Inis Mór and Achill Island during his acceptance speech for Best Actor.
